One nutsedge plant can produce up to 90,000 seeds with 50 – 90 % of them being viable. That’s 45,000 – 81,000 new weeds trying to infest your lawn!
Georgia’s largest park, F.D. Roosevelt State Park, is 9,049 acres. We treat nearly twice that amount in metro Atlanta every year.
Most warm season turf lawns need to be mowed every 5-7 days. Make sure you only cut 1/3 of the blade to ensure good color and dense growth.
Not every weed is preventable. Weeds such as dallisgrass are almost impossible to prevent and are extremely tough to control.
The majority of lawn diseases and turf thinning can be avoided or rectified by proper mowing, watering, fertilization, and aeration.
In Spain, they make a drink called horchata that is made from ground nutsedge tubers. But don’t worry. We don’t want to drink your lawn’s nutsedge, we just want to kill it!
Poa annua is one of the sweetest grasses for animals to graze on. While it might taste sweet to animals, it doesn’t look so sweet on your lawn.
